El joven de 21 años de Maitland, Florida, Chris Nikic, ganó el récord mundial Guinness por la carrera final tras convertirse en el primer atleta con síndrome de Down en completar un Triatlón Ironman.
Nikic se convirtió en “histórico” para las Olimpiadas Especiales, luego de su triunfo tras nadar 3.86 kilómetros, recorrer 180 kilómetros en bicicleta y correr 42.16 kilómetros solamente 16 horas, 46 minutos y 9 segundos.
Lo anterior se llevó a cabo en el Ironman Florida en Panama City Beach el sábado anterior, en donde el atleta terminó 14 minutos antes del corte oficial.
"Objetivo establecido y logrado", escribió Nikic el domingo en redes. "Es hora de establecer un objetivo nuevo y MÁS GRANDE para 2021".
